Dr. Melanie Fowler
Dr. Melanie Fowler is the owner & Principal Dentist at Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery. Her treatments are gentle and professional. She qualified as a Dentist after graduating from the University of Western Australia with a Doctor of Dental Medicine.
Melanie enjoys all aspects of cosmetic and general dentistry. She has a special interest in Invisalign and veneer procedures and understands improving the appearance of a patient’s smile can greatly improve their confidence!
Dr Melanie and her husband, Derek have two young kids so when they are not working, they love spending time together renovating their home in Kalgoorlie and exploring the Goldfields region.
Derek Fowler
Co-Owner and Director
Derek is Director of Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery with a background in Accounting and Finance. He holds a B. Bus, is a qualified CPA and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Derek also holds a position at the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder with responsibility for many of the key facilities in the City. Derek’s previous senior positions included in the Oil and Gas Industry in Australia and overseas.
Derek grew up in Tom Price and Pannawonica and feels right at home living in Kalgoorlie and exploring the wider Goldfields region. He is the joint proud owner of the beautiful heritage building of 45-47 Dugan Street and has recently overseen extensive renovations to Kalgoorlie Dental Surgery. Derek also loves supporting his family’s sporting and extra-curricular activities with two very active children!
Lauren Palmer
Oral Health Therapist
Lauren is a registered Dental Therapist and has been in the dental industry since 2002. Lauren has been part of the Kalgoorlie Dental surgery Team since 2023. Prior to this her primary field of work has been working with children and their families within the WA School Dental Service for over 13 years.
During this time she has had the opportunity to build strong relationships with families of Kalgoorlie-Boulder as well as rural Goldfields towns. She has also been a tutor/mentor to final year Oral Health Therapy students during their placements in Kalgoorlie-Boulder (a role she has thoroughly enjoyed).
Lauren has recently completed a post graduate course with the university of Melbourne to expand her skillset. Lauren strives to provide a comfortable, safe and caring dental experience for all patients, especially children. She is very committed to continuing her dental education to heighten her ability to provide a high standard of care.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children, cooking, camping and enjoying the Kalgoorlie lifestyle.

Dr Sigourney Henneker (BDSc Hons)
Dr Sigourney Henneker is a highly experienced general dentist with over 15 years’ experience in private practice across metropolitan and regional Western Australia. She graduated with Honours from the University of Western Australia in 2009, where she was Dux of her class and received multiple academic and clinical awards.
Born and raised in Kalgoorlie, Dr Sigourney has a strong connection to the Goldfields community and is proud to be raising her three children locally. She previously practised in Kalgoorlie for many years and is delighted to be providing care to local families again.
Dr Sigourney is known for her calm, gentle approach and her ability to put anxious patients at ease. She enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients and takes a preventative, patient-centred approach to care. Her broad clinical experience includes comprehensive general dentistry, emergency care, paediatric dentistry, and nitrous oxide (happy gas) sedation.
She has a special interest in dental sleep medicine and has completed advanced training in snoring and oral appliance therapy, working closely with medical practitioners to support patients with sleep-related breathing disorders.
Dr Sigourney is a registered dentist with the Dental Board of Australia, a member of the Australian Dental Association, and an associate member of the Australasian Sleep Association.
Lea Moran
Practice Manager
Our practice manager Lea was born in Kalgoorlie and raised in Perth. She has moved back to Kalgoorlie with her little family for a new adventure and has been in kalgoorlie for nearly 2.5 years now. Lea has nearly 20 years experience in the dental industry so her skills and knowledge has been wonderful for our entire team.
On Lea’s days off she is either running around to sporting activities with her kiddies or weekend visits to Bunnings to renovate her home.
Lea’s favourite part of dentistry is helping to improve a patients confidence with a new smile!
